Is the home the hub of the church or is the church the hub of the home? Elmer opened with thoughts about the first family, Adam and Eve, from Genesis 1. From verse 27, he noted that just as the Trinity is unified, yet three distinct beings, so the church and the family, though different structures, should be working for the same goals.
He then outlined different aspects of church and family relationships:
1. Christian homes are a distinct blessing.
2. Single parent homes are common today.
3. Man is deviating from God's plan for families.
4. The home is very influential to society.
5. Families are a part of God's plan.
6. Parent set a pattern for attitudes of love or selfishness in the family.
7. Families should be a place of growth.
8. Families are under attack in today's society.
9. Unconditional love and commitment are vital.
10. Watch out for discontentment.
11. Deal with problems now before they snowball.
12. How can we defend the home?
13. Teach Biblical principles young.
14. Teach fear of God.
15. Parents, walk what you talk.
