Thinking about the eternal aspects of God:
1. God has always been and always will be.
2. If we don't consider history, we don't know where we came from and certainly don't know where we are going.
3. We are not as God, who always was, and we know always will be.
Births, weddings, and funerals are a part of life. The carnal man has no security. The Christian has a place of security and refuge in the Lord. Psalm 91:1. Living under the shadow of the wings of the Almighty gives us fortitude to live in a positive way in a negative world. Man is like the withering grass, but God is vibrant and eternal.
A tribute to the aged: Moses tells us in Psalm 90:12 to number our days. There is a figure involved here that rests in the hands of God, so let us live our lives in the will of God so when that time comes we will be ready to go. Moses has four points for us: 1) V. 14- O satisfy us early with they mercy. 2) V. 15- Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us. 3) V. 16- Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children. 4) V. 17- And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us.
Everyone desires a sense of value. In Deuteronomy 34:7 Moses still had his natural forces. In I Chronicles 29:26-28 David dies in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor. David was a man after God's own heart. In II Samuel 19:35 Barzillai felt useless. Satan would have older people feel this way. Older people need to be a Godly example to the younger generation.
Joshua 14:8-14. As we age, we need to keep God central in our lives. Caleb followed the Lord his God. There are still mountains to conquer for everyone.
II Timothy 4:6-8. Will our testimony be as Paul's was? In spite of what he endured he kept the faith. Will we?
