What was the greatest even in the history of the world? You could say the birth of Christ or when he came to the earth. What will be the greatest event in the future of the world? It will be when Jesus comes to the earth again at the end of time.
There are many different ideas about how it will all come about, but here are some of the things that we can know for sure:
1. Jesus has gone to heaven, and he will return. The scriptures talk about his return as a certain event.
2. No one knows when He will return. Many times man has tried to predict His return but they will never get it right.
3. God is not limited by man's predictions, Christ will return in God's time.
4. His return will be unexpected. Many will be surprised at His coming.
In Matthew 24, the disciples asked Jesus what the signs will be of His coming. Four of the signs that Jesus gave are as follows: 1) There will be wars and pestilences. 2) Many will fall away. 3) The Gospel will be preached in all the world. 4) It will be as in the days of Noah.
How will Jesus come? He will come in the clouds and with the clouds. Hebrews 9:29, Jesus will come for our salvation. In Revelation 3:11 and 22:20 it speaks that Jesus will come quickly.
Why will Jesus return? He will come to reward the righteous and the unrighteous.
What attitude should we have toward His coming? We should be ready and waiting for His return at any time. We need to be abiding in Christ as we expect His coming.
Are we thinking about His coning seriously enough? Are we as eager for His return as we would be for our own wedding? His return will be the greatest marriage supper that there ever was.
We need to make sure that we are free from known sin. We do not need to fear sin, rather we need to trust Him with our lives and our sins.
Can we say with rest and confidence, "Even so come, Lord Jesus"?
