Titus 3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another
1) Show God’s hatred for sin
2) To show the contagious nature of sin
3) Death of our Lord
4) Repetitious process- The holy of holies had not been opened, but now has been, because of the atonement.
It is because of Jesus blood that we have life, life is in the blood.
Adam and Eve sinned – Animal blood was shed.
Cain and Abel – Blood was shed on the alter and Abel’s blood was shed.
Noah – Offered a sacrifice to God. Blood was shed.
Abraham – Was going offer his son, but a ram died instead.
All through the Bible sacrifice was made and blood was shed to atone for sin.
Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as wool… Even more than a sacrifice, God desires a broken spirit. God came to be our perfect Sacrifice. He has come to be an atonement for our sins. He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all our sins!!
Jesus gave us Himself as a sacrifice for our sins, an atonement for us!
John 19: 28 – 30 It is finished! The atonement is complete. The veil was rent in two. It opened up the way to God. We can come boldly to the throne of grace and find grace to help in time of need.
