The focus on this message was on child training. We learned about three C's that are important: Compassion, Consistency, and Courage.

There were also four things mentioned that parents should strive to apply.

1. Consistency
a. Mean what you say when giving instructions/directions.
b. Love children unconditionally.
c. Exemplify obedience to authorities.
d. Be a parent, not a buddy.

2. Discipline
a. Spanking needs to be administered for disobedience, disrespect, and dishonesty.
b. Three reasons for spanking: to free the child from guilt, to teach acceptable behavior, and as a consequence for wrong behavior.

3. Teaching faith values
a. Internet in the home must be filtered.
b. Computers, books, and magazines must be monitored.
c. Vacations need to consist of wholesome activities.
d. Punctual church attendance needs to be a high priority.

4. Monitoring home activities
a. Teach good money management. (Use Gary Miller's book on finances.)
b. Monitor children's play time and activities.
c. Guard against sexual abuse.
d. Maintain a close, open, talking relationship with each child.

1 Kings 1:5-6

5Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him. 6And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and his mother bare him after Absalom. (KJV)

2 Timothy 1:3-5

3I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; 4Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; 5When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. (KJV)
